The Healthful Living Tobacco-Free Program

December 03, 2007

The Benefit Services Division announces a new program available to all Benefit Options members (enrolled in the medical/health plan).

Registration:

  • Members may register January 2, 2008 through February 28, 2008 by telephone at 1-866-202-4665 (M-F 8am-8pm CST), or online at www.mywhi.com/tobaccofree
  • Members MUST mention the client identification number 512298 **
  • Members will answer a series of questions about their medical history and plans to quit smoking. If registering by phone, the initial call will be approximately 20-30 minutes.

Program Details:

  • Members will be sent a binder filled with step-by-step quitting advice, health education, and motivational information.
  • A pharmacist will contact registered members by telephone within approximately 2 weeks to begin counseling
  • The program also includes coordination with the member’s physician. Once the member and counselor determine the best smoking cessation product, WHI will contact his or her provider for a prescription
  • A pharmacist/counselor will contact the member periodically to check progress and provide guidance. The program includes 8-11 calls.

Members do not have to wait for the Healthful Living Tobacco Free Program to quit. The new tobacco quitting pharmaceuticals are offered at no cost this plan year. Members are receiving a $500 lifetime limit to quit tobacco use. With a prescription from their physician, members can receive tobacco cessation drugs at participating pharmacies.

Please direct any questions or comments to Benefit Options Wellness at 602-771-9355.
