Effective February 1, 2008, Strategic Health Development Corporation will begin providing Medical Management services for the State’s Benefit Options medical plan. Strategic will assist health plan members with medical education, nurse line services and care facilitation needs. Until February, these services will continue to be provided by Schaller Anderson. This change does not affect access to providers (including providers in the Schaller Anderson medical network), benefit plan coverage or treatments that have been ordered.

Medical Management program services that are available include:

• Education to help members and their families understand medical conditions and treatment plans
• Coordination of discharge planning from the hospital
• Assistance with making health care decisions
• Review of potential risks and consequences of proposed medical services
