Focus on Health, Target Longevity

Health Focuses:

Welcome to the newest addition to the Benefit Options Wellness – BeWell Benefit.  As part of your BeWell Benefit, Wellness will be targeting specific health conditions each quarter.  These health conditions have been identified as the greatest area of need for our employees.  Click on the quarterly focus below to find additional resources and information.

  • Third Quarter 2011 – Heart Disease:  During the third quarter (July through September), Wellness will be offering programs that emphasize the management of health risk factors that contribute to heart disease.  Sub focuses may include such things as; hypertension/high blood pressure, high cholesterol, weight, nutrition, and fitness.  Wellness will also be partnering with community partners and ADOA contracted vendors to communicate and highlight support services and programs related to heart disease.
  • Fourth Quarter 2011 – Diabetes Fourth quarter (October through December) programs and services will target diabetes among State of Arizona employees.  Screenings and educational health management courses will be offered with sub focuses on blood glucose, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, weight, heart disease, nutrition and more.  Communications will be made available to inform employees about diabetes support programs and services.    
  • First Quarter 2012 -- Men's & Women's Health: For the first quarter of (January through March), Wellness will focus programs, services, and communication on Men's and Women's Health. This quarter's screenings and educational programs will emphasize preventive health, self care and early detection of disease.
  • Second Quarter 2012 -- Men's & Women's Health: For the second quarter (April through June), Wellness will be offering educational programs and services that focus on Stress and Pain Management.  Employees will be provided opportunities to learn more about Employee Assistance Programs through lunch and learn and new communication materials. Educational and lifestyle programs and will target anxiety, stress management, migraines, and low back pain.
